New Baby, New Uncle

I was tagged by Marilee over at FaithSisters.com! This is the 7th photo in the 7th folder in my My Pictures folder. It is my son, Chris when he was about 4 years old. (I think) I'm having trouble identifying exactly when this was taken because these are some photos I scanned for his high school yearbook and I made them black and white and cropped them. Hmmm.

I think I will tag:
Barb
Eva
Tina
Kim
Jennifer
Natalie
Kristi D.

Here's what to do: Go to the photos folder on your computer.
Go to the seventh folder of photos.
Go to the seventh photo.
Put the seventh photo on your blog along with a description.
Invite seven friends to join.
Optional:
(leave me links to see your pictures!!!)

In other news, the boy above is a new uncle and we are grandparents! Yee Haw!
Here's a picture of our new little Josilyn Rose.

Wacky Wednesday / Thoughtful Thursday

Here are a couple of digi layouts I did from Gotta Pixel's Wacky Wednesday challenge.

This one is my kids and nephew. He's the little one, LOL!

Such a deal! Besides they have a bunch of free stuff too. I got another ton of papers and elements. It's a good thing they don't weigh as much as real scrapbook stuff!

Here's one that just uses one of the free elements, the word art:

The journaling reads, Benedict Castle, Teen Challenge, Riverside

I remember how I felt that day when we first visited Erik at the "Castle" It looked more like a resort than a rehab facility. When we saw the dove on top of the tower I felt a sense of peace. I knew then that God is in control. 11/11/02

I used Photoshop CS. I love working in Photoshop. I'm just a little slow because I'm relatively new at it and I love to tweak and tweak and tweak. My computer seems a little slow too, but it probably doesn't help that I have 10 programs open at once. Poor thing. I really overload it.

Off to do more...

Happy Birthday USA!

We had a Cinco De Julio party this year. Not really, but the annual 4th of July party was on Saturday the 5th this time. We had so much fun. This was the invite that my DH made. He has so much fun with these.

We had music and BBQ and fun splashing in the pool.

My Latest Paper Projects

I lied. This is really my latest paper LO. The others were done a while ago, although "Spring Fever" was updated yesterday.

Journaling reads: "Six days you shall labor, but on the seventh day you shall rest; even during the plowing season and harvest you must rest. Exodus 34:21"

The pictures are of DH, me, our old doggie, Ryan, and our son Chris on the lake. I think they were taken around 1994 or so. I wasn't scrapbooking then and I didn't even mark the date on the back. Thank goodness we now have digital cameras!

I kind of scraplifted the layout from Scrapbooks etc. Jan 08, pg 23. The journaling was inspired by the sermon yesterday about the Sabbath.

All paper products from my vast LP collection. Wink I tried to copy the font "Artistamp Medium"
by hand since I didn't want to add any more paper to the layout. That was kind of fun. One of my friends at Faith Sisters commented about it being nice seeing flowers on a primarily male LO. It hadn't really crossed my mind! Hey, guys can enjoy flowers too! God gave them to all of us to enjoy. By the way, He gave me 2 big beautiful bouquets of roses yesterday, and 3 more this morning. I think I'll scrapbook about them.

This LO is DH, me, and our friends, Wayne and Diane at the Long Beach Blues Festival in 2006. We go to a music event with them every year. The Festival was on Labor Day weekend and it was HOT! That's Joe Cocker in the bottom panel on the right.

Rex has perfected the art of finding the perfect spot. Wayne gets in line at about 5am and we join him later. Then when the gates open, Rex sprints for the perfect spot.

This year and last year we went to the Doheny Blues Festival at Doheny beach. It is May 17 and 18 this year. Click on the link for more info.

I'm kind of bummed because we have to leave early this year on Sunday. I'm gonna miss Bonnie Rait. I'm only kind of bummed because the reason I'm leaving early is that our church choir is having a concert that evening and I've got a solo! It's the first time for me. Wish me luck!

I finally put pictures to this layout. It was a quickie one from LP. I think these pictures were taken in '95. My kids, Nicolette, approx 13, Erik, approx 11 and Chris, approx 10. The boys were going through their, "Do we have to smile?" phase. Ha, Ha, DH can always get them to smile.

My Ancestors

I have been inspired lately to search for my ancestors. My Great Great Grandfather, was a senator from Colorado. I had heard this as a child, and recently I thought that there should be some information on him online. It turns out that he was in the senate for 40 years. That's some kind of record! He helped write laws when Colorado was a new state and is responsible for Columbus Day. That information alone gave me pause. My daughter was born on Columbus Day. God has some sense of humor, eh?

This is my Great Grandmother, his daughter and myself at 1 year old.

The journaling reads:

Great Grandma & Me

Her name is Sofía Chacón.
She is the daughter of
Senator Casimiro Barela of Colorado
and his wife Josefita Ortiz.
Her husband is Eusebio Chacón,
the son of Rafael Chacón
who fought in the
Civil War on the
side of the Union.
She is the mother of
Carmen, my grandmother,
Ernestina, Enriqueta,
María and Casimiro.
Her sisters are
Juanita and Leonor.

She’s gone now, but I got to know her
for the first 5 years of my life.
We played in Grandma’s backyard,
sang songs and talked.
I threw Bougainvillea flowers at her
and she threw them back at me.
She had a little blue parakeet named Pajadito.
I think she tried to teach me to crochet.
She must have been very patient with me.

Scripture Challenge Updates

These are my latest pages for the Faith Sisters Scripture Challenge. They were all done with the late Leaving Prints' products except for the flowered background on "Kindness." This was an envelope that I cut apart. It was too pretty to throw away.
